I believe the universe is a coherent expression of the Divine Logos (God, John 1:1)—the ultimate source of truth and reason.
Pursuit of the Logos reveals the details of creation on every scale and in every dimension—physics, cosmology, quantum mechanics, biology, psychology, and domains which we haven't discovered or named.
And of course, pursuit of the Logos includes those topics which rightfully occupy our Sunday mornings—the beliefs, conceptualizations, and principles which govern our lives, determine our behaviors, and form our communities.
My life is surrendered in service, not to a fixed set of dogmas, but to the pursuit of an eternal God.
Logos - John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word (Logos,λόγος), and the Logos was with God, and the Logos was God
In 2009, I sacrificed my individuality and joined with my wife to form something greater. Together we brought two perfect children into the world, a son and a daughter. We pass on not only our genetics but also our memetics, not randomly inherited but deliberately selected. I have every confidence that their legacy will extend and exceed our own.
Mathew 19:5-6 - 5 For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh. 6 So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate.
Genetics - Those biological traits that are passed down from parent to child
Memetics - Those ideas, beliefs, and values that form our culture and way of life
I am a conservative and a liberal. I strive to conserve the liberal values enshrined in the Constitution. The American value system is aspirational. We are capable of living up to our principles. You may believe that your party is the party that best represents those principles, and you may be right—for the moment. But principles are often sacrificed in the pursuit of power. My hope is that the American people and our representatives can put our principles above our parties, forcing our parties to converge on our principles.
Conservative - a political philosophy favoring free enterprise, private ownership, personal responsibility, and rule of law.
Liberal - a political philosophy that promotes individual rights, civil liberties, and limited government.
